About Hayo

© Maartje van Hees
Having graduated from Utrecht University with a degree in Computer Science, Hayo started his career working in IT as a software engineer and project manager. However, with the acquisition of his first SLR camera, his passion for photography was born. Trips to countries such as Australia, South-Africa, Namibia, and Greenland gave him ample inspiration for wildlife and landscape images. In 2008, Hayo made a decisive career move by quitting the IT business and starting a curriculum in photographic design with Fotovakschool Amsterdam. He now devotes himself to photography full-time.
Hayo’s drive for perfection is apparent in the immaculate quality and sharpness of his images. His photography is equally characterized by its brilliant, vibrant colours, alternated by softer hues and dark shadows to create suspense and mood. His strong opinion on environmental and fair trade issues is mirrored in his original ideas for idealistic campaigns.
Based on his previous technical background, Hayo developed himself as an expert in the field of camera technology and photography-related software, such as Adobe Photoshop, Nikon Capture NX, and PhotoMechanic. Workflow and Colour Management also hold no secrets to him.
